iStumbler on the web

"The Rendezvous or multicast DNS (mDNS) scanning is also useful given how widely Apple has deployed the technology. iStumbler lets you browse for mDNS services and connect to them through a single interface instead of needing to use different programs, such as a Web browser and the Finder, to attach to different kinds of services.
"This version also improves the scanning and display of Wi-Fi networks, which system administrators will find useful when trying to pinpoint signal problems or glitches"
Glenn Fleishman writing for TidBITS on iStumbler release 90.

"Another popular network discovery tool, [iStumbler], is even simpler than MacStumbler, in that there is really nothing to configured. Just fire it up and it will find all available networks for you, complete with a real-time signal and noise meter."
Wireless Hacks

"iStumbler provides the user with a very straightforward interface to view current wireless networks in range of the users computer. iStumbler tells you the SSID (station name), signal strength, channel, whether or not the station is encrypted with WEP, and much more in its easy-to-read interface."
